Today I Had a Thought

Today I had a thought.
What if we had never met?
How would it be...
Simply rewind the past,
To just before,
Skip that dinner
Not walk through that door.

What ifs, what ifs,
Like a plague, for me they exist.
Though knowing you...
Not something I'd ever want to miss.


Part of my life story,
I keep rereading my favorite lines,
Taking little journeys, back in time.
But how much longer can I stay in one place?
The next chapter is calling,
Bidding me to quicken my pace.


So today I had a thought.
What if this was part of some bigger plot?
Your role was short, a paragraph at best,
And I'm starting to see was all part of life's test.
I'm thankful God saw fit to cross our paths for a time,
And forever and always,
Your story will be part of mine.
